Tajikistan chaired the OSCE discussions on the norms and commitments of interstate relations in the politico-military sphere
On June 12, 2019, in Hofburg, Vienna the Republic of Tajikistan has chaired the Eighth Annual Discussion on the OSCE Participating States’ implementation of the Code of Conduct on politico-military aspects of security.
This event, which was an integral part of the program of Tajikistan Chairmanship of the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation Forum (FSC), was conducted in continuation of the previous seven discussions held under the FSC auspices since 2012.
Addressing the opening session of the Annual Discussion, the FSC Chairperson and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the OSCE Mr. Idibek Kalandar has noted that the main task of the current meeting is to maintain the work aimed at further development of norms and commitments of the interstate relations in the politico-military sphere guided by the Helsinki Final Act (1975), the Charter of Paris for a New Europe (1990) and the Helsinki Document (1992).
In this regard, Ambassador Kalandar emphasized that Tajikistan attaches great importance to the Code’s proper implementation, and added that the country actively participates in the Annual Military Information Exchange.
The program of the 2019 Annual Discussion consisted of the two working sessions, which provided the OSCE Participating States a platform for the exchange of views on ways to improve the efficiency and better implementation of the Code of Conduct.
As an outcome of the Annual Discussion, it was decided that Tajikistan, as the current FSC Chair, would provide a report within one month, which should have include a survey of suggestions and recommendations made during the meeting.
