Meeting with the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas
Today, in the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas.
The two sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation, mostly focusing on military and military-technical cooperation, ensuring peace, stability and security.
The participants stressed the effective coordination of the CSTO member states concerning fight against international terrorism and extremism, illicit trafficking in arms and drugs, transnational organized crime.
Both sides confirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in combating the negative phenomena of the modern world within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
The officials expressed confidence in the implementation of agreements reached within CSTO framework, including CSTO decision on providing assistance to the Republic of Tajikistan to reinforce its state border with the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as well as further promotion of activity of relevant working groups and enhancing of coordination between CSTO member nations.
The discussion also focused on selecting a candidate for the next Secretary General of the CSTO. In this regard, the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed the Tajik side’s readiness to support the candidacy submitted by the Republic of Belarus to this responsible position.
Other issues being of mutual interest were discussed during the meeting.
